Digitization of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Curriculum

In the spirit of partnership with other public institutions and to encourage the development of relevant local content as a demand driver for ICT services, the Commission supported the Kenya Institute of Education (KIE) in its programme for digitization of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) curriculum.  This is a land mark project that will enhance e-learning in the country and provide an incentive for teachers and students to access ICT services.

Through the support of the Commission, the Institute has been able to digitise 11 subjects for the Form 1 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) curriculum. In addition, the digitised subjects were piloted in 20 schools of which 16 are the beneficiaries of the Commission’s school-based ICT centre initiative.  The support from the Commission went into the acquisition of hardware and software and capacity building at a cost totalling Kshs. 15 million.
