The Commission facilitated and supported the establishment of the Kenya Education Network (KENET), a National Research and Education Network that promotes the use of ICT in Teaching, Learning and Research in Higher Education Institutions in Kenya. National Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) Taskforce

The National Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) taskforce is a Public Private Partnership (PPP) entity whose main mandate is to develop strategies for the eventual nation-wide deployment of IPv6. The taskforce is chaired by the Ministry of Information and Communications. The Commission is a member.

EACO East African Internet Exchange Point (EAIXP)

The East African Internet Exchange Point (EAIXP) is an East African Communications entities Organisation (EACO) project that seeks to interconnect the East Africa countries through Internet links. The objective of the EAIXP is to keep EACO Internet traffic local to the EACO region. The Commission is a member of the project and chairs the EAIXP taskforce.

EACO Cybersecurity Taskforce

In recognition of the increased cybersecurity challenges due to the increased Internet connectivity in the region, especially with the landing of two (2) undesea fibre optic cables in the East Africa coast, the East African Communications entities Organisation (EACO) Congress formed a taskforce to study and recommend the way forward on Network Security issues. The taskforce, which is chaired by Kenya, is spearheading the establishment of national CERTs within the EACO region.
