KE – CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team)
The Kenya Communications (Amendment) Act of 2009 mandates the Commission to promote public confidence in the use of the Internet and to provide a platform for managing cyber security issues. In this regard, the Commission is in the process of setting up a Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT). The CERT, known as the Kenya Computer Emergency Response Team (KE-CERT), will receive, review and respond to computer security incident reports and activity, and will also create awareness on cyber security issues through the provision of cyber security advisories, among others.
Government Internet Exchange Point (GIXP)
The Commission is facilitating the establishment of a central clearing house for Government entities, a Government Internet Exchange Point (GIXP). The GIXP will be open to peering arrangements with other Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) in the country.
Certification Service Providers (CSPs)
The Kenya Communications (Amendment) Act of 2009 mandates the Commission to facilitate the implementation of a sound electronic transactions (e-transactions) framework. In this regard, the Commission will oversee the implementation of the national e-transactions framework through Certification Services Providers (CPSs)
