Aloys O. Ang’asa – Director

Mr. Aloys O. Ang’asa has worked in the communications sector in various capacities for over 30 years. 

Aloys O. Ang’asaHe began his career in the communications sectors in 1980 as an Economist in the defunct Kenya Posts and Telecommunications Corporation, the then state-owned postal and telecommunications utility.  He rose through the ranks to the position of Manager in charge of Planning and Statistics Branch in the Department of Postal Services.

Following the restructuring of the communications sector in 1999, Mr. Ang’asa joined CCK at the position of General Manager in charge of the Postal Development Department.  In this position, he was responsible for developing and carrying outregulatory functions governing postal and courier operations in Kenya.

In May 2002, Mr. Ang’asa was appointed Director in charge of Competition, Tariffs and Market Analysis Division. In this position, he was responsible for economic regulation of the postal/courier and telecommunications services in the country. He represented CCK and Kenyain important international meetings and events dealing with postal and ICT matters.  Mr. Ang’asa headed Kenya’s technical teams to those meetings.

In May 2003, the Government of Kenya appointed him to perform the duties of the Director-General and CEO of CCK on an acting capacity for a period of about a month. During this period, he chaired the 12th East African Regulatory, Posts and Telecommunications Organization (EARPTO) meeting in Nairobi.

He retired from the service of CCK in July 2005 to the world of consultancy. He has consulted for many organizations including the Universal Postal Union, the Pan African Postal Union, AFRALTI and CCK.  

Mr. Ang’asa holds a B.Ed (Economics) and M.Sc (Agricultural Economics) from the University of Nairobi, and was a Visiting Research Fellow at Oxford University in Corporate Planning and Management in 1983/1984.  

He was appointed to the CCK Board in February 2011 for a three-year term.
